#HealthyEats: Tatziki

I love Greek food, especially pitas and tatziki. Tatziki is healthy, economical, uses few ingredients and is extremely easy to make.

Ingredients:
1 cup Greek Yogurt
1/8 Cucumber, grated
Sprinkle of Salt and Pepper
1-2 Clove Garlic, finely chopped or grated
Sprinkle of Dill Weed (Optional)
*Yield: 3-4 light lunches served with 1/2-1 pita and a green salad
*All Measurements are Approximate

1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
2. Cover bowl and refrigerate overnight. This is very important because it allows the flavours to blend. If you don't wait, it'll taste like sour cream and salt and pepper. But if you wait, it'll taste like garlic-y Greek goodness. Mmmmm.
3. Serve with green or greek salad and pitas or even kabobs or a greek pita wrap.

What's one of your favourite healthy, clean eats? I'd love to hear in the comments below! Have a lovely, sunny day. :)

Empties!

I can't believe how many products I am in need of replacing. A lot of these products were products I first started using around the time I started this blog. I've loved all of these products dearly and a lot of them are underdog products, which I'm excited about sharing with you.

Herbal Essences Body Envy Shampoo This shampoo works so well for my hair. I've used plenty of great shampoos in my life but none of them have reacted with and treated my hair as well as this one has. That said, I might try another shampoo, just for kicks.

Covergirl Professional Mascara This was a decent mascara and it was $5 or $6. Who can complain?

Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation This is a real underdog product and though, I won't be purchasing it again as I have other foundations and concealers to use that I am currently enjoying, but this product has served me well.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder Everyone raves about this stuff, and for good reason. I'm already going through my second one of these and still enjoying it just as much as I was when I started using the first one.

St.Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser St.Ives is currently my favourite for skincare. And this cleanser was what got me hooked in the first place. It's a great, gentle cleanser but your face feels nice and clean afterwards. It also lathers up beautifully and I'd say it keeps a good control on my acne. I have already bought another one, because I love it so much.

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Facial Scrub This stuff is fantastic. It's a great exfoliant and really wakes you up- perfect for weekend mornings and days you just don't want to get up. (Plus it has caffeine!!!)

Clean & Clear Morning Glow Moisturizer I have used this stuff so religiously forever. In fact the bottle pictured is actually the re-fill, not the empty.

Maybelline EyeStudio in Sunset Seduction I'm actually only out of the silver-y colour, but it's pretty much the only colour I use on this palette. It's such a unique silver and it shows up differently on other people.

Garnier Fructis Curls and Shine Leave-in Treatment This was one of the first hair products I ever used when I actually started doing my hair and I have used it ever since.

What are some products you always re-purchase? Have a lovely day!

How I Deal With My Wavy Hair: 2014 Blogger Challenge

I was planning on doing this post at some point anyway but then I got an email saying the next topic for the #2014BloggerChallenge is hair.

I love my wavy hair, but it's definitely taken me a long time to figure out what works for it and what doesn't. I feel that wavy girls are always often overlooked. All hair products are made for either creating waves, straight haired or curly haired girls. Also, this time of year is perfect for waves. (Hello Beach!)

Products:

Garnier Curls &Shine Leave-in Treatment. I have honestly used this products ever since I started actually started styling my hair when I was like twelve. It is essentially a leave-in conditioner that is just so wonderful for any type of dry or damaged hair.

Garnier Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Cream Gel. This stuff is a miracle. I run it through my hair when ever I let my hair air dry, which is almost all the time, especially now that it's starting to get warm out. It leaves my hair soft and perfectly defines my waves.

Herbal Essences Body Envy Shampoo. My hair naturally has a lot of natural volume but this product is still a really good for my hair. It leaves it really nice and clean and fresh feeling but doesn't strip my hair or make it dry. It makes it soft and smell good.

via amazon.ca
Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. I currently do not own this product but I really liked it. This would also be good for texturizing straight hair. I really liked it in the summer and I would add lemon juice to it to help lighten up my blond strands. It helped define by waves. I also would use it when ever I put my hair in braids. I would spray it on before I braided it and then use it as hairspray to secure the final product.

How I Style It:
Usually I let my hair air dry, especially this time of year. If you have wavy hair, instead of fighting with it, just define it with curl cream or mousse or texturizing spray and let it do its thang.

I find braiding my hair when its wet just makes it go crazy. But I find braiding dry hair before I go to bed helps revive my waves the next day.

I like putting it into twists before I go to bed. You wake up with really piece-y waves. Remember: tighter the waves, tighter the waves/curls you get.

I hope this helped make your uncontrollable hair better and taught you how to have fun with waves, whether you have them or not this beach season.

Spring!

It seems throughout the other three seasons of the year I forget about spring but whenever spring comes along it's like I've found a long-lost friend. I've always been a summer girl but I think, this year especially I'm realizing the glory and beauty of spring.

The sweet fragrance of blossoms and rain, those first few days when you don't have to wear a jacket outside or when you allow your legs and feet to feel fresh air for the first time in who knows how long, those first kind of warm nights when you can drive around with the window open or look at the stars. It is so sweet.

I always associate spring with going out more. I not only want to go out and do stuff and suddenly become a bit more adventurous, it also seems that my friends start making more of an effort to go out on weekends and plan stuff to do.

I have just been loving this season of my life (literally) and I am so excited for all the things that are happening over the next few months. I've got some adventures planned and I'm really excited for what's coming up for myself and my friends.

What's your favourite thing about spring?

#TrendingTuesday: Beggining of May

I've decided to start a new segment. I don't know whether I'll continue doing it, but I've noticed a lot of bloggers doing these types of weekly posts, so I decided to try one.

I recently made this and it was so good. Instead of using raspberry vinaigrette, made a citrus one that worked really well. I'm planning on doing a blog post on this in the near future.

I've recently been watching a lot of FunForLouis as I find vlogs very relaxing. His vlogs of the Lads Roadtrip in Italy were amazing. My favourite is the one above, I believe. I just thought it was a very beautiful part of Italy.

Besides FunForLouis, I've currently been loving EleventhGorgeous. I love how they do hauls every month or so about what's new at the drugstore. Plus, they have other cool segments like how not to do makeup, etc. Also, I can't believe how diligent they are about uploading three times a week. That's incredible!

Yes, all of what I'm liking are YouTube videos currently. I love reading blog posts that are well-written or have great pictures as they give me something to aspire to. If you know of any quality blogs like this, let me know in the comments and I'll be sure to check them out! I hope you had/have a fantastic Tuesday!(Different tenses because there are things called time zones on this planet we live on.)

I Heart Drugstore Makeup Tag

I have loved watching the I Heart Drugstore Makeup Tags on YouTube recently, and even though it is a little old, I thought it was a great concept and decided to do it any ways.

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand overall?
Currently, Rimmel or Revlon. I've recently been trying a lot of their products and I have yet to be dissappointed. That said, I have tried the most things from Covergirl.
2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?
I have tried so many foundations and "covering" products over the years and I've really loved/am currently loving Rimmel's Wake Me Up Concealer and Stay Matte Pressed Powder, Revlon's Colorstay Foundation, Covergirl's Clean Whipped Creme Foundation and Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream and Fit Me Foundation. I'm not a big cheek girl so I've only really tried NYC's Mosaic Face Powders but I really like those. For lips, I love Revlon's lip products. They really are worth the hype.

3. Least favorite product?
I have been really disappointed by a lot of Covergirl's face products. Well, though they definitely didn't fufill my expectations, looking back I realize that I just didn't know that there were the products out there that I have now. Also, L'Oreal's True Match Foundation was definitely a disappointment.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
Covergirl's Professional Mascara and Clean Whipped Creme Foundation are both like $5 or $6. Revlon Lip Butters and all of NYC's products. NYC is super affordable and their lipsticks, nail polishes and mosaic face powders are awesome.

5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)
Covergirl's Mascaras are really quite good but not many people talk about them, also Covergirl's Clean Whipped Creme Foundation. I seriously love that stuff. It is medium coverage, but I use it as more of a concealer, especially in the summer when I don't really wear foundation. Plus it's super great for travelling because you just use your hands to apply and it is a fairly small container, but a little goes a long way. I wouldn't recommend it for oily skin, though.
6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
Revlon Colorstay Foundation. That said, I feel the drugstore is getting kind of crazy with pricing overall.
7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!
I have never bought a high end product, so I don't have any actual dupes. That said, last time I was in Wal-Mart I noticed Hard Candy is selling eyeshadow palettes with 10-12 colours in them, I think for $5. And there are four or five different palettes. The colours and formula might not be the same as say, the Naked Palettes or Mac's Palettes, but for $5 they looked really good. I didn't buy one, but I do own a Hard Candy Baked Eyeshadow Quad and I love it.
8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
L'Oreal True Match Foundation. I still don't see the big deal about it.

What are some of your favourite things from the drugstore?

#2014BloggerChallenge: What Happened to CDs?

To this day I still have a CD player. And I still use it. Every morning the alarm on it wakes me up to whatever tune I set it to. I know most of us still have one in our car, but in all honesty, CD players are getting pretty outdated. I mean who needs CD players when we have satellite radio, Bluetooth connectors, phones, iPods and iTunes?

All these things have contributed to the first world's issues with not waiting our turn and in my opinion, being control freaks. Everything is always right at our fingertips, all the time and we always have control over every little thing in our lives. I really believe that these things were all brought on by technology.

Think about it. You put your iPod or phone on shuffle and if a song you don't like comes on. You pick your phone up, which is probably sitting beside you and change the song. Not that you couldn't do that with CD players, but you would have to take your eyes off the road or walk across the room. These days we have phones on us every hour of the day or have fancy buttons on our steering wheels to change the song.

So what do CDs and music have to do this? Back before iEverything and other gizmos we put up with that song on the CD that we didn't necessarily like whereas today we just don't buy the song. This puts a lot of pressure on musical artists today because they can be so easily judged from one random 30 second sample you heard on iTunes. CDs gave artists more room to express themselves and develop the character of the album. For example, the lastest Paramore album Paramore has a very unique character. I know, because I bought the CD. There are many little 1 minute interlude diddies on this album. When I would listen to this CD and would just listen along to the interludes and I quite enjoyed them. Now that I listen to this album on my iPod more than I do the CD, I actually make an effort to skip the little interludes because they don't fit an actual track, in my mind. They fit a little break in the album and that's really the only place for them. As well artists and their producers can spend hours contemplating the order of songs, the artwork and the words on the album, which ends up only to be put on shuffle, skipped, overlooked and unseen by the iTunes buyer. Artists can do a lot of cool things when you give them an hour or so of your time to listen to their creativity in all aspects of their album. But they can impress you very little in 30 seconds or 3 minutes (depending whether you actually have the heart to buy it or not).

So throw on a CD next time you're on a long drive and let another person's creativity inspire you.

By the way this was the latest #2014BloggerChallenge where are topic was music.

What are some of your favourite albums/CDs?
